MYNI does not send official text (SMS) messages unless it is necessary for emergancy or to gather people for important events. In each of the exceptions above, only those who are members of MYNI will be contacted using text messages. Please note that text messages are not the main source of communication with our members. All our members, who have filled in and submitted the application forms, have explicitly agreed to regularly check this website, myni.org.uk, for event details and activities. This should be the main source of information about events, talks, meetings and activities. Parents have also read, agreed, and signed to these rules on the MYNI application forms. Members should not therefore depend on text message notifications as updates to events. They should, instead, check the website - which is very easy to use. In fact, did you know that we have a calendar which has all the latest details of upcoming events? You can visit it at myni.org.uk/events

Boys Brigade will be visiting us on 14 February Also, there is a Religious Architecture Project from the University of Ulster. The project aims to investigate how teenage children from different religious backgrounds perceive certain elements of place, religion and identity, in particular, how they interpret the spatial layout of religious buildings and perceive the relationship between the space and the religion itself. 20 children (4 from each religious background) will be taken to one architectural example of religion. By means of conversation, drawing and photography, the young people will be encouraged to represent and discuss the space. We need 4 people to come and participate in the project. It will be on for 3 days.

Hi, There has been some confusion regarding the age limits for participation in DofE. Here is the required information about Ages. Please read carefully! You can do a Bronze DofE programme once you’re 14 (or nearly 14, which sometimes happens when you and your friends decide to start your adventure together. However, your Leader must agree this.) If you are 15, you can start on a Silver DofE programme. If you've achieved your Bronze Award, your Leader may allow you to start your Silver a month or two before your 15th birthday. As for the Gold programme, no activities can be counted for this before your 16th birthday. All activities that you do for any DofE programme MUST be completed before your 25th birthday. Please note:

I've updated the gallery, which now includes photos from the "Making it happen" project and a video from the PlayBoard Summer Camp. You'll also noticed the photos are now in slideshows, so it's a bit easier to see the photos one by one without clicking each time :) Don't know where the gallery is? In the main menu (the blue-ish thing with the white shine at the top of the page) go to Community, and under it, you will find "MYNI Gallery". Or type myni.org.uk/images for shorter access! Enjoy!

Pupils and teachers from St. Rose's attended our Eid-Ul-Adha prayer at the Ozone Leisure centre. Below are some details about St. Rose's. Any muslim who wishes to attend their open day is very welcome. St. Rose’s is an all ability, all girl school Roman Catholic school under the trusteeship of the Domincan Sisters. We have a very strong Catholic faith-based ethos, but we welcome girls from other faiths. At present we have a group of Muslim girls attending the school and it is our aim to help them to feel included in our community as well as to offer them opportunities to progress on their own faith journey. We have tried to do this by arranging a quiet place for daily prayers, and by making available copies of the Qur’an and prayer mats. We are now offering a programme of study for Key Stage 3 Religious Education and GCSE Islamic Studies. The Muslim girls are free to wear the hijab and the school uniform has been altered according to requirements. The teachers in St. Rose’s have a great amount of experience of teaching international students and experience in supporting students who have English as an additional language.

The gear is a bit expensive there, so we took a quick tour around other shops nearby (TKMAX and SportsDirect.com). The boots were good value there, but it's 'hit and miss' with the sizes. By Yousef ElTuhamy
