MYNI does not send official text (SMS) messages unless it is necessary for emergancy or to gather people for important events.

In each of the exceptions above, only those who are members of MYNI will be contacted using text messages.

Please note that text messages are not the main source of communication with our members.

All our members, who have filled in and submitted the application forms, have explicitly agreed to regularly check this website, myni.org.uk, for event details and activities. This should be the main source of information about events, talks, meetings and activities. Parents have also read, agreed, and signed to these rules on the MYNI application forms.

Members should not therefore depend on text message notifications as updates to events. They should, instead, check the website - which is very easy to use.

In fact, did you know that we have a calendar which has all the latest details of upcoming events? You can visit it at myni.org.uk/events

I've updated the gallery, which now includes photos from the "Making it happen" project and a video from the PlayBoard Summer Camp.

You'll also noticed the photos are now in slideshows, so it's a bit easier to see the photos one by one without clicking each time :)

Don't know where the gallery is? In the main menu (the blue-ish thing with the white shine at the top of the page) go to Community, and under it, you will find "MYNI Gallery". Or type myni.org.uk/images for shorter access!

Enjoy!

Assalamo Alaikom,

There have been a few important changes to the core of Muslim Youth Northern Ireland (MYNI).

To start, a new committee has been elected. This committee consists mostly of the initial steering committee which founded MYNI.

It consists of the following people, ordered by surname first:

  • Mohamed ElTuhamy
  • Yousef ElTuhamy
  • Rahma Farrag
  • Basma Salem
  • Mostafa Salem
  • Ali Yousaf
  • Azka Yousaf
This committee will be changed in future, whereby a new committee is chosen by vote, once MYNI's population starts to increase.

The above members do not have any previlages over any other member, except for the fact they decide which routes MYNI will take in order to be a fully established and successful youth group. If an activity or event is to be planned, it will be planned through the committee, but will be discussed by other members.

In addition to the above, MYNI has organisers. These are the people who assisted the start of MYNI. These are Bob Adams, Muhammad Alqaryooti, and Taghreed Galaal (ordered by surname first).

With regards to the new membership process, the following important steps must be pointed out
  1. If you are a previous member, then you must register again
  2. To register at MYNI as a member, you must fill in a form (this is explained later in this post)
  3. Members from both the senior and junior groups must both complete forms (where the junior member's parent/guardian completes his/her form)
  4. It is important that these forms are filled in completely if applicable and that they are signed by the member (if senior) and his/her parent/gaurdian (if under 18)
  5. The forms can be filled in on-screen (i.e. on the computer, electronically) and then printed and returned.
  6. The completed forms must be returned to either the secretary (Mohamed ElTuhamy) or any of the organisers.
  7. PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU WILL RECEIVE A MYNI.ORG.UK USER NAME AND PASSWORD BY EMAIL AFTER COMPLETING YOUR FORM.

PLEASE NOTE: You MUST have the LATEST version of adobe reader to view/download/print the form. Click Here to download it.

For the past three or four days, MYNI has been offline with the error message "Database Error: Unable to connect to the database: Could not connect to MySQL"

The problem has been fixed and everything should be working as usual now.

BIC organised an exciting residential for members of MYNI. Activities included bowling, wall climbing, walking, and witnessing many of the landmarks, mosques and museums as well as personal effectiveness exercises by Elyas.

Take a look at the photos at myni.org.uk/images. There you can also download high quality versions which are bigger and clearer. And we really need to thank Bob for his excellent photography.

Gaza day photos

This was an event organised by the Belfast Islamic Centre for members of MYNI and other youth groups.

The aim was to raise awareness about what happened in Gaza.

Dr. Mohsin was chairing the event and opened important and relevant discussions.

Dana gave an excellent presentation about Gaza and also gave us her own personal experience, being of Palestinian background.

You may download the photos and view them in the image gallery, myni.org.uk/images.
