Hi, There has been some confusion regarding the age limits for participation in DofE. Here is the required information about Ages. Please read carefully! You can do a Bronze DofE programme once you’re 14 (or nearly 14, which sometimes happens when you and your friends decide to start your adventure together. However, your Leader must agree this.) If you are 15, you can start on a Silver DofE programme. If you've achieved your Bronze Award, your Leader may allow you to start your Silver a month or two before your 15th birthday. As for the Gold programme, no activities can be counted for this before your 16th birthday. All activities that you do for any DofE programme MUST be completed before your 25th birthday. Please note:

Attended: Yousef ElTuhamy, Mustufa Salem, Basma Salem, Azka Yousaf What happened: There was a tour of Cotsworld, we went over all the equipment needed including:
The gear is a bit expensive there, so we took a quick tour around other shops nearby (TKMAX and SportsDirect.com). The boots were good value there, but it's 'hit and miss' with the sizes. By Yousef ElTuhamy

I phoned Colin today to verify meeting times, transport, etc. He says the Duke of Ed. Training day is not happening due to people not communicating with him. No one gave him a phone call or email or anything except very few people (i.e. Me.)... I told him I was contacting everyone to make sure the meeting and training day would go ahead as planned. His reply was that he didn't know I was doing this, nevertheless people should be committed to coming to the regular meetings. If you've signed up for DofE, then it's your responsibility to come to all the meetings. If for any reason you can't come, then it's just manners to send an email or call to Colin letting him know you're not coming. The meetings are spread out with quite a gap between each meeting (~2 weeks). Therefore it's up to you to organise your time so that the day of the meeting is 'booked'. Nevertheless there's really no excuse for not contacting him with an apology other than pure laziness. If you're lazy then you really should not have applied in the first place. Colin says we'll reschedule everything again in September and he regrets cancelling the training day this Sunday but he was left with no choice. The
DofE award scheme is really all about determination. At it's most basic
level, it's the determination to come to the meetings or at least send
an apology.

If you are participating in the award scheme, it is important to take note of the following details: Your Duke of Ed activity sheet It is crucial you fill in your activity sheet. Check your email inbox. Colin sent everyone a copy (several copies). Details of the next duke of ed training day The next training day was in fact supposed to be a weekend, but due to lack of turn out, we changed it to just a day out. Nevertheless, you are required to attend this, if you do not, it is possible this can result in an entire cancellation of the whole project. IT MUST BE POINTED OUT THAT COLIN IS DOING THIS VOLUNTARILY. His job vacancy at DofE has ended, he is now serving us from his own kindness. You must show your respect by at least attending the meetings. Punctuality is one of the most important skills for the DofE award scheme Free up this day in your diary or whatever way you organise your time: Sunday 21 June 2009Expedition kit list Click here to see a detailed list and locations for shopping where you can get everything you need for the expedition. You will need your kit ready before the first training day.

We discussed the activities we would do for the physical, skill, and volunteering sections of the programme.
Colin also explained that the organisers of this programme are SEELB (South Eastern Educational and Library Board). He also explained that the fees for the DofE entry will be £11.
We then discussed the next meeting date. The next date has not been confirmed. But the residential date everyone agreed will be during the easter holidays, although this is also not confirmed.
